Have you failed enough?
I have stumbled upon an interview by Tony Robbins (one of many) where he talks about failure and what it means. He mentions that nothing is a failure if you learn from it. Went broke? Had a break up? Made a huge mistake? — Not a failure, just a lesson.
That got me thinking, I have always been proud of pretty much achieving anything I want. I wanted to get accepted into a program in a different country — done! Pass my Undegrad degree and get into Honours — done! Secure multiple internships — done! Job that I want — done! Help my mum to have a better life — doing it now!
I have always worked my ass off but most importantly I have enjoyed that work so freaking much! Since I was a kid, my mum taught me that nothing comes easy to someone who is dreading a challenge.
And I thought: Hmm I have never really ‘failed’! I worked and got things done. But does that mean I haven’t looked outside of my comfort zone enough? Maybe I need to try and ‘fail’ more! Maybe we all need to do things that don’t come easily, things that we might not be good at, things that we don’t know anything about? Because ‘failing’ is the only way to learn and grow and find out what works for you and what doesn’t.
Let’s all go out there and fail in the best possible meaning of that word. Happy learning ladies and germs!
