What do you call Success?

I was sitting in my bath tub waiting for the prescribed 2 minutes for my conditioner to do its magic on my hair and these random lines came to my head. Let’s call it poetry or bathetry:

What do you call Success?

When your bank shows one million, two or seventy

When your car can drive by itself

Or when your bags are worth more than your dignity

When you never have to sleep by yourself

What do you call Success?

When a baby smiles at you

When you found your last underwear

Or when your passport photo is a pretty one

When after sex you are gasping for air

What do you call Success?

When you come home to a family

When your crush calls you to just stare at the stars

Or when you see a sunset in Italy

When you don’t see a sunset from behind the bars

What do you call Success?

When you’ve earned enough so your kids can eat

When you get a house with a wooden deck

Or when your wife finally leaves you

When your start-up gets written a cheque

What do you call Success?

When you have so much clothes you don’t know what to wear

When the stranger puts a fiver in your hat

Or when you get take-aways from Michelin star restaurants

When that cute boy kisses you in a school yard

What do you call Success, my friend?

I call it life
