You ALWAYS have options

People tend to overthink how much something matters and not think enough about how much they can actually change.

I am sure all of us have something we are unsure/indecisive about. Something that we chew through in our minds way past the point anything should be chewed on. We tend to think sometimes that the sequence of events that led us to a certain situation locked us in these said events and the only way to move on with it is either option (a) or option (b).

Should I buy a house or keep saving? Should I call this girl or not? Should I take this job or wait for the better offer? I don’t like where I am now, which way out should I take: this or this? Either. Or.

What about Neither-nor option? What about literally any other option? Literally anything else?

I am not trying to overstate the power of choice and control in situations when someone is really bound by unfortunate chain of events and hardships. But how many of us consider some bullshit excuses why we don’t do certain things a hardship?

I hear it all the time from people who drink from I-hate-Mondays cups. People who pray for exams to be interrupted so they all can go home. People who date a totally undateable date. People who put themselves in situations when it seemed like they would rather be anywhere else. But they stay.

This is for you, lost and confused peeps, out there.

You have options. You have so many fucking options.

If you think that you don’t, add ‘do nothing’ and ‘join Hare Krishna’ in there. You can quit uni tomorrow and do anything else. ANYTHING ELSE. You can change jobs. You can take online courses. You can move cities. You can move countries. You can leave your wife. You can have children. You can go on Tinder. You can film yourself eating and post in on Youtube. You can date her and him. You can go to the movie by yourself. You can eat curry or thai or carrots. You can fuck your boss, your nanny, your friend.

or that?

Endless options. Just choose and remember, wherever you are in life, YOU chose to be there. How empowering is that?! You chose to attend night school after work. You chose to date that psycho. You chose to watch TV 4 hours after work every night. You choose it all.

So if you do choose to be here. Please, please love it here. Here is great and wonderful. Here is your decision. And here you are because here is where it is best at least for the moment.
